It is easy to be lured by advertisements claiming
you can save time and money by drafting your own will or trust using
do-it-yourself software, websites, fill-in-the-blank will kits, and
attorney “trust mills”. While these techniques are almost always
preferable to dying intestate. (without an estate plan,) cookie cutter
options such as these ignore the fact that everyone’s needs and
financial situations are inherently different. It is unlikely that such
a device will generate a suitable plan that accomplishes all of your
objectives.
Only a qualified lawyer who takes the time to review your
complete situation can interpret the maze of laws bearing on property
rights, taxes, wills, probate, and trusts. A compressive estate plan
should include at minimum: A will, a trust, a durable power of attorney,
and an advanced health care directive. In addition to providing these
basics tools, your estate planning attorney should review your complete
state of affairs and discuss tax consequences and advanced planning
options tailored to meet your needs.

Estate planning covers the
transfer of property at death as well as a
variety of other personal matters and may or
may not involve tax planning. The process
begins with us sending you a free
informational packet. This packet includes
pamphlets and information about estate
planning. If you decide to utilize our
services, fill out the enclosed survey and
call our office to schedule your free
consultation with an attorney. If you have
any questions while completing this form, an
experienced paralegal will be available to
assist you. At your consultation, your
attorney will review your situation and
documents and provide you with an
explanation of costs and potential packages
that are best suited for your unique estate
planning needs. We will then prepare the
documents within a reasonable time period
and have you revisit our office so we can
explain and address any further concerns
before finalizing the paperwork.
