Brief Job Description: Position responsible for sustaining an environment of intrinsic good will for the practice, while providing support for Litigation attorneys in the Areas of appellate, probate, trust administration, intellectual property and judgment enforcement.  This position performs a variety of duties, including performing legal research, preparing discovery, docketing/calendaring, meeting/interviewing clients to obtain information and assess client’s legal needs. 
Anticipated work hours 9:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. with a 1 hour lunch break.
 
About the Firm: A seven attorney boutique law firm specializing in Trusts, Wills, and Estate Planning; Trust Administration; General Business Law, Formations, Mergers, Acquisitions; Business Succession; International Law; Tax Law; Probate; Trust and Fiduciary Litigation; and General Business Litigation.  Our office is located on University Avenue, near the intersection of Howe Avenue and Fair Oaks Boulevard. 
 
Requirements of Position:
I. English fluency with the ability to speak clearly and precisely in a patient matter, using a friendly and courteous tone of voice. 
II. Minimum of five (5) years of paralegal experience and one (1) year of Civil Litigation experience required. Three (3) years of Civil Litigation experience preferred. 
III. Strong legal research skills.  Ability to conduct legal research using online legal databases, knowledge of Lexis online research system a plus.  Ability to read, understand, interpret, and apply legal precedent, including cases, statutes, regulations, and other legal sources.
IV. Strong organizational skills, the ability to handle the day-to-day dealings of a law firm and maintain a complex filing system which is both computer and paper-based.
V. Excellent typing and document reviewing skills are required.  The ability to review documents, letters and e-mails for spelling, grammatical and referencing errors.  Ability to type with speed and competency is a must. 
VI. Comfort and competency with computers.  Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook mandatory.  Experience with Lexis practice management programs (Time Matters and/or Practice Advantage) is a strong plus.  Experience drafting documents with HotDocs is also a plus.  Applicant must be able to handle a heavily computerized environment and be comfortable working with:  word processing programs; e-mail programs; computerized multi-line phone system; case and file management software; office-wide calendaring and coordination software; using scanning and optical character recognition (OCR) software; and organizing paper/computerized documents/client files.
VII. High level of discretion and ability to maintain strict confidentiality with regards to clients and legal matters.
VIII. Successful applicant must have notary license or willing to get license immediately upon hiring.
